UnitedCan began operations in 1952 at a modest plant in the center of Jakarta, manufacturing cans for such household products as cooking oil, shoe polish and hair cream.
A 1969 joint venture with Japan’s Toyo Seikan Kaisha brought an infusion of new technology that expanded its capabilities in manufacturing and product development. By the time it opened a far larger facility in 1975, UnitedCan had become Indonesia’s pace-setting manufacturer of metal containers and closures.
